The majority of bullying takes place in or around school because that is where children spend most of their time. That’s why it is important for every school to examine and develop programming to prevent bullying in the first place and determine how to deal with it when it does occur. Some successful school strategies include:
- adopting clear and specific rules and consequences for students that demonstrate disrespectful and/or bullying behavior,
- implementing a social-emotional curriculum, and
- having parents and kids sign anti-bullying pledges.
